Why ExReps has not been updated
« on: May 24, 2009, 01:34:43 AM »
There have not been any updates to ExReps for a while, the reason is that I have been getting eye surgery and for much of the last two months have not been able to see/use the computer. I now have a temporary prescription and can see well enough to work on the machine a few hours a day

Status on Eyes and drivers license to let me start getting around Vegas again.

I had the original surgery back in late March, but then two weeks later had to get surgery a second time on the same eye because the stitches pulled out (boy did that hurt). This restarted the 5 week clock to getting a new set of glasses which would allow me to take the Nevada DMV drivers test and replace my somewhat flakey Oregon drivers license.

I had the 5 week checkup after the second surgery Friday, and instead of an "good to go" I got an "Aww shit".

My right eye still is not good enough, even with new glasses, to pass the drivers test. It is going to take a 3rd surgery, with Star wars like laser cannon to hopefully correct it enough to pass the drivers test.

But the eye is still healing from the last two times got cut on so I cannot get the 3rd surgery until August.

In the meantime my left eye, which I had been using to do the limited driveling I was doing, has fallen to the point where I can no longer see out of it. at least while driving in the Nevada sunshine.

I can drive well enough using the right eye, but really had promised myself a new drivers license for being a good boy and getting the first eye "fixed"

This is not to be, and the fastest path to a Nevada drivers license is going to be to have the left eye operated on on the 19th of June, which hopefully will allow me to take the drivers test sometime in Mid July.

Of course this means that while I can use the computer, I will not be able to read hard copy at all from mid June to mid July, best case, and if I end up having multiple surgeries on the left eye it may be a lot longer.

Getting old is not for the weak, but I am not going to give up on this one. As soon as I can be on the road again you can count on my making the meet ups.

Dynelectron - DynCorp - GEAE - NATEC
10 Years USMC stationed at MCAS El Toro MAG 11. Went to work for Dynelectron. Dynelectron became DynCorp. Then I was hired by GEAE as a F412 Engine Tech Rep. Well, that program didn't happen. So, I was assigned as a T700 Engine Rep at various Army locations. Now, I'm with NATEC and have been stationed at MCAS CPEN since 1993.
